Since joining the gym, I am down four more pounds. I think that finally puts me at the ten pound mark! I have been every single day since I signed up. I know it's not much, but I'm claiming success when I can :)
I even signed up for a little contest the gym is hosting...we'll see!

Whew!
Today I had my first day at the gym. One and a half hours of cardio, strength training, and sweating. It felt good!
I can't wait to go back tomorrow!

Still here!
I'm still here! We have survived the sickness that had invaded our home. I will be back soon with my new resolve. I am starting a new exercise streak, and hopefully this time I will not be interrupted by 103 degree fever!
So, I'll be back here soon! Until then, take a walk and have some water! It's good for you!

Nine
There is a line in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" that goes something like this, "I am just one stomach bug away from my goal weight." Well, I haven't had a stomach bug, but I have lost 9 pounds since Thursday. It's a far cry from my goal weight, but it's nine pounds gone! I'm not happy that I was sick, but I will take this as a jump-start and gear back up for a new exercise streak! I am hopefully back in the saddle again tomorrow. I am needing one more day to recover, and then, I am back!

Pick myself up and move on
It's over. The 2008 exercise streak has ended. I was at the minor emergency yesterday and left with three sicknesses. I have the Flu, an ear infection, and some type of throat infection (possibly strep). I have been VERY sick...I have no voice, and I go back and forth between freezing and sweating. My fever has yet to break, and the cough in my chest is so very painful. My precious husband is now caring for me, as well as my two sick children. They are both still battling something, and have been for over a month now.
I was nearly in tears the first night when I realized I wasn't going to get my exercise in. But I decided that I am not going to beat myself up about it. Everyone gets sick from time to time, and I can't be ashamed of something that I can't control. So, I am letting it go. I am going to pick myself up and move on. Once I am well, I will start again.
One day, one step at a time, right?

No wonder
It's no wonder that so many people give up on this journey of weight loss. I have been working so hard for 5 going on 6 weeks, and have barely lost any weight. I was so proud of my efforts, and my faithfulness to the exercise. I have cut out the Dr Pepper, which was HUGE, except for the three times I have caved. But I wasn't going to beat myself up over a Dr Pepper. I just left with a belch and a new resolve to do better.
But now, this far in with so few results, I can totally understand the urges to give up. I'm feeling them. I'm thinking all those things I know others have: why bother, I am destined to be fat. I'll never get thin, I hate myself, I hate my body, I hate my metabolism. I have too far to go, I'll never make it! I was so proud, only to be plummeted to the depths of disappointment and failure.
But I'm going to keep trying. I can't look at my husband and children and tell them they aren't worth the battle. And while, right now, I don't feel like I am worth the battle, I am going to keep on anyway. Let's just hope that some pounds start to fall off! I need some wins!

Number 3
I caved. No, I haven't stopped exercising, but I caved. I had Dr Pepper #3 of 2008. I'll just say that it has been a really rough week for me, and leave it at that. But I am still exercising...the streak continues!
